Twilight In Versailles is a collaborative group led by Ryan Moser. The album credits Guido Ghedin on a handful of drum tracks, as well as Jason Downer. Moser, however, handles a majority of the workload on Capsule. The album is just under an hour of tepid yet capacious post-rock in the vein of Riceboy Sleeps and This Will Destroy You’s Tunnel Blanket.

The album opens with ‘Winter’s Passed,’ which begins with reverberating, layered keyboard. It gently leads the listener into outer space with heavy, distorted drums and echoing guitars. The whole song sounds like a farewell to earth, leading to an interstellar day trip throughout the galaxy. As evidenced on ‘Winter’s Passed’ and the rest of the album, Moser is not afraid to let passages and themes draw out for as long as they need to. ‘Winter’s Passed’ is nearly nine minutes long and despite its repetitive nature, it never really seems to let up. It is an ideal opening track for the album that follows.

The next track, ‘Dragonfly,’ is much shorter than ‘Winter’s Passed,’ but it further evidences Moser’s willingness to allow instrumental themes to freely dictate the length of his songs. ‘Dragonfly’ is a track built on a bass guitar progression that leads into plucked guitar. The following tracks build on this motif, allowing a particular instrument to steer each song in a unique direction.Capsule patiently advances through ten songs with their own individual motifs, yet there are times when the album seems to meander without a unified direction.

The second to last track, ‘Gyroscope,’ comes close to bringing together everything that has occurred on Capsule up to that point. It wealthily combines the album’s numerous themes into a cogent farewell. The last track, ‘Canvas,’ reaches for the same heights as ‘Winter’s Passed,’ but Moser seems to lose control of the drums as they fracture off into space.

The whole album has a sense of deeply felt melancholy running throughout it, yet there is a sense of detachment as well. It is this dichotomy that, amongst other things, makes Capsule the successful debut it is. If humans had the capacity and means to visit other galaxies or solar systems, Capsule would likely be the soundtrack to these journeys. The album bodes very well for Twilight In Versailles’ future.

Single: Collapse Under The Empire - Sacrifice / Low

Band: Collapse Under The Empire
Album: Sacrifice / Low (Single)
Label: Finaltune Records
Year: 2014

Tracklist
01. Sacrifice (Single Version)
02. Low (Bonus Track)
Download

Collapse Under The Empire is an instrumental/post-rock band from Hamburg, Germany. The lineup consists of Martin Grimm (guitars & drums) and Chris Burda (keys/synthesizer & drums). They formed in 2007 and released their debut album Systembreakdown (2009) on their own.

Most of the songs are alternating between electro-bleeps and powerful guitar explosions; it’s both disturbing and seductive. As with Collapse Under The Empire’s debut EP “Paintball“ they’ve succeeded their specific post-rock sound, combining epic guitars with chilled electronic elements and a portion melancholic mood.

In one year’s time they have self-released their debut LP “Systembreakdown”. It displays acute instrumental sensibility, using pianos and synths with guitar-battering crescendos. “Systembreakdown” may only be about 40 minutes long with no nine-minute epic, but it packs a lot of beauty and emotion.

Nevertheless Collapse Under The Empire stick to their own style and do not want to emerge as a knock-off. With their mixture of instrumental post-rock they are trying to make a cut above the uniform pulp and put their own stamp on it.

The Echelon Effect came to life amid the long winter nights of February 2009, born from a burning desire to fall in love with music again. It started with a laptop and an idea: write a track, and make it huge. But one track became four, an EP that needed an audience. The tracks were posted on MySpace. And people began to listen.

"Panama is gone, heading north-west then north into the Pacific, tired and looking for a new home.

The Final Voyage.

"We'll tell the truth, and keep it deep inside, and if you keep the sound, I'll fall by your side".

Pacific is the second part of a double album, Recorded and mixed through 2013/14 in London UK - Sacramento USA.
Part 1 "Atlantic" was released November 2013 and can be bought at name your own price

Album: Wess Meets West - Live At Riverworks

Lazy genre classifications are frighteningly stunted when describing Wess Meets West. A simple “post-rock” label is a tepid disservice that waters down the aesthetic drive and critical intent. Wess Meets West move beyond any number of noisy “post-rock” contemporaries in an attempt to harness a deeper narrative, one imbued with both history and odyssey. It’s fitting then that Wess Meets West should call New England home, a coastal hub exposed to the elements and ripe with historic consequence. Whether on record or live, Wess Meets West consistently reaches the memorable while driving toward the intangible. Layers of ambient guitars, mirrored harmonies, swelling lows, and textured percussion mix with found sounds and electronics to create a density of sound that is otherworldly. Their intense, visceral performances appear as a struggle, a messy tug-of-war between the artist and the unconquerable eternals of time: an unending sea, an immobile mountain, an ageless forest and a constant wind pitted against the unwavering human will to persevere. In this, Wess Meets West is striving for something more: to bottle the primordial. In this quest, they refuse to shy away from the grandiose. Their compass is always pointed at something larger. On Chevaliers and When The Structures Fail Us, this purpose is harnessed with audacity and demonstrates a confidence to tackle an enduring scale that most bands—of any level—would be discouraged to dirty their hands with.

Wess Meets West began in 2005. The first four EPs "You Women..." (2007), "How To Kill A Mammoth"(2008), “A Collection of Explosions and Death Threats” (2009), and “The Sun The Moon The Master (2009) all explore different areas of electronics and post-rock. Wess Meets West have also collaborated with John Nolan,(Taking Back Sunday) on his Collaboration Experiment, "The Bering Sea".

Live At Riverworks was recorded May of 2013 Live all in one room at the Recording Studio Riverworks in Dobbs Ferry NY. The live release shows a more raw side of the band. It showcases early versions of songs from When The Structures Fail Us and new live versions of older songs.
